Frequently Asked Questions
-
Our classes are organised by age, allowing every child to learn alongside others at a similar stage of development. If you're unsure which class is the best fit, we'd be delighted to help you choose.
-
Absolutely! We offer a two-week trial, giving your child the opportunity to experience our classes, meet the teachers and make new friends before enrolling.
-
Absolutely. Many children join us feeling nervous or lacking confidence. Our experienced teachers create a welcoming and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to participate at their own pace. Building confidence is at the heart of everything we do.
-
Not at all. Whether your child is stepping into a performing arts class for the very first time or already has experience, they'll be welcomed and supported.
-
For your child's two-week trial, comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely is perfect, along with trainers or suitable dance shoes.
Once your child joins Set the Stage, they'll be asked to wear a Set the Stage T-shirt with plain black leggings, joggers or shorts (depending on the weather and activity). This helps create a sense of belonging and gives all of our students a smart, professional appearance in class.
-
Please bring a named water bottle and plenty of enthusiasm!
For our longer classes, we also recommend bringing a healthy snack for the break. Please do not send any snacks containing nuts, as we have children with nut allergies and aim to provide a safe environment for everyone.
-
Fees are paid monthly via our secure online booking system. Full details will be provided when your child enrols.
-
Yes. If spaces are available, children are welcome to join at any point during the year.
-
We understand that children occasionally miss classes due to illness or family commitments. While missed sessions cannot usually be refunded or transferred, we'll always do our best to keep your child up to date where possible.
-
Yes! Performance opportunities are an important part of the Set the Stage experience.
Children in our younger classes enjoy regular in-class presentations for family members, as well as taking part in our annual show. Our Main Stages students also have opportunities to perform throughout the year, including our annual theatre production.
-
Yes. Throughout the year there will be opportunities for families to celebrate their child's progress through presentations and performances. Parents will not be able to sit in to watch weekly lessons. The only class we offer parents to stay for is our Stage Tots class
-
Costume fees are included in your monthly payments, we may ask you to provide certain items such as dance shoes, tights or under shorts
-
Yes. Stage Tots is a parent-and-child class, giving little ones the confidence to explore, learn and enjoy performing alongside a trusted grown-up.
-
That's completely normal! Every child settles at their own pace. There is never any pressure to participate, and many children prefer to watch before joining in when they feel ready.
-
For our Stage Tots classes, parents and carers stay and take part alongside their child.
For all other classes, we ask parents to leave their children with us during the session. We find this helps children build confidence, independence and friendships. Throughout the year, we hold presentations and performances where families can enjoy seeing everything the children have been working on.
-
At Set the Stage, we believe performing arts is about so much more than singing, dancing and acting. Our classes are designed to build confidence, encourage creativity and help every child feel valued, supported and inspired. Whether your child dreams of performing professionally or simply wants to have fun and make new friends, they'll be welcomed into a positive environment where every achievement is celebrated.
